Creating resources

Creating a resource through the Power Platform requires one action. The 'Resource' action allows you to use any source to create plannable entities in Dime.Scheduler. All the fields available in the action will be used in Dime.Scheduler:

Broadly speaking, you can manage the following categories of information of a resource in Dime.Scheduler:

  • Identifiers
  • Names
  • Groups (department, team, types)
  • Contact details
  • Address info
  • Free fields
  • Links
  • Visual indicators

All the fields are documented in the developer manual. It is worth mentioning that the Resource No. field is mandatory, and makes it easy to link the same entity across business systems. When, eventually, you schedule a task for this resource and wish to process this appointment in your application, you'll want to be able to trace the scheduled appointments back to the same resource you scheduled in Dime.Scheduler.

Other attributes, such as resource filters, types, certifications, capacity, live locations, and more, can be managed too. The rule of thumb is that a Resource No. needs to be specified in order to assign these attributes to the resource in the database.

In addition to the master record, additional actions are available to append or remove the following related entities:

  • Resource calendars
  • Resource filter values
  • Resource actual location
  • Resource capacity
  • Resource URI
