Filter Values
Filter values setup defines the available values for each of the filter groups.
As covered in the previous article, it is possible to define filter value sources and create filter values from those. In other words, filter groups can be linked to another table in Business Central, such as skills, zones, and others. It is therefore not strictly necessary to fiddle around in this table as the filter groups page may manage the data in this list.
In this list, it is also possible to define categories, time markers and pins inside BC, and even assign their color to it. In the DS filter value page, click the column in the 'Color' field to open the color picker:
Filter values vs doc filter values
The document filter values, which is covered in the next article, are the filter values that belong to a task or a resource. The document filter values of a task or resource are usually a subset of the filter values, which are a list of the available values for a filter group.
To put it differently:
A document filter value - with a document referring to a task or resource in Dime.Scheduler - is an assignment of a filter value to said entities.
The document filter values of a task determine the characteristics required by a resource to perform the task. Here are some examples that make this abstract concept more tangible:
- Which skills are required from a person to carry out a task?
- What is the minimal pressure or power required from a machine?
- What minimum capacity is required for a conference room?
The document filter values of a resource are the characteristics of the resource. Here are some examples that make this abstract concept more tangible:
- What are the skills of a person?
- What is the minimal pressure or power delivered by a machine?
- What is the capacity of a conference room?
In other words, a task filter value is a requirement that a resource needs to fulfill in order to carry out the work. A resource filter value is a characteristic that specifies what this resources is able to do.
