Do the work
Most of this manual is written for the planner: somebody looking at a board full of other people's days. This section is for the other side of that board. A technician, a driver or an engineer on site does not need to see the plan for forty people. They need to know where they are going today, what they are expected to do there, and a way to write down what they did that does not involve reconstructing the week on Friday afternoon.
Two surfaces give them that. My Work is the signed-in person's own page in the web app: their schedule, the tasks they can move along, the projects they are on and the time they have logged, and nothing wider than that. The mobile app is the same person on the phone, for the days spent nowhere near a desk. Both are keyed to the resourceResourceAn entity that can carry out work - a person, vehicle, tool, or room - that you schedule on the planning board. linked to the user account, so the same person sees the same work whichever one they open.
Time has its own pages, because it is the part of this that leaves the building. The overview explains the model behind the timer, the weekly grid and the submit button in both clients: the difference between a session a timer observed and a claim a person makes, and why the two are deliberately kept apart. Time tracking is the resource's side of it, and timesheets is the same workflow seen from the other side, where a team lead looks at time across every resource at once. That page is for the person responsible for the doers rather than the doers themselves, and it sits here because the two halves only make sense together.
Before anybody can use thisโ
Each of these pages works for a user whose account is linked to a resource, and each is unlocked by its own user actionUser actionA single protected capability, such as 'edit appointment', that a role can grant. The building block of role-based access control.. None of them requires the person to be a planner. The actions, and what each one opens, are listed on the roles page; how the account is matched to a resource is on My Work.
Setting up a field user is a resource, a user and a role, and the first two have to agree on an e-mail address. If a person opens My Work or the app and sees nothing, that match is the first thing to check.
