Creating resources

A resourceResourceAn entity that can carry out work - a person, vehicle, tool, or room - that you schedule on the planning board. is a plannable entity in Dime.Scheduler. The 'Resource' action creates these resources from any source you connect through the Power Platform, and every field you populate in the action flows straight into Dime.Scheduler:

You can manage the following categories of information for a resource:

  • Identifiers
  • Names
  • Groups (departmentDepartmentA grouping of resources used to sort and group rows on the planning board and in the grids. As a group behavior in the crews view, a department cannot be booked; it exists for structure and reporting., teamTeamA second grouping axis for resources, independent of department, used to sort and group them. In the crews view, "crew / team" is the behavior where a booking fans out to every member., types)
  • Contact details
  • Address info
  • Free fieldsFree fieldOne of the unmapped fields on jobs, tasks and appointments that a back office can fill with its own data, each with a localizable caption.
  • Links
  • Visual indicatorsIndicatorCollective term for the visual signals - categories, time markers, pins, and tags - that identify and label appointments.

Every field is documented in the developer manual. The Resource No. field is mandatory, and it is what links the same entity across business systems. When you later schedule a task for this resource and want to process that appointment in your own application, the Resource No. lets you trace each scheduled appointment back to the resource you created in Dime.Scheduler.

You can manage other attributes too, such as resource filters, types, certifications, capacityCapacityThe amount of working time a resource has available in a given period, used to spot over- and under-planning., and live locations. The rule of thumb: a Resource No. must be specified to assign any of these attributes to the resource in the database.

Beyond the master record, separate actions let you append or remove the following related entities:

  • Resource calendarsCalendarA definition of when work can happen, for the whole tenant or for specific resources: business hours, weekends and holidays. Calendars shade non-working time on the planning board and skip it in Gantt durations.
  • Resource filter valuesFilter valueA single value inside a filter group, used as a qualification on a resource or a requirement on a task.
  • Resource actual location
  • Resource capacity
  • Resource URI
