Service Orders

Plan Dynamics NAV service orders on the Dime.Scheduler planning board. The FastTrack solution for service orders gives you these key features:

  • Plan a service order as a single task, or plan each of its service item lines as a separate task. The default category and time marker of a task can be drawn from the service order type, the service line repair status or the service zone.

  • When you allocate resources in Dime.Scheduler for service orders or service item lines, the service order allocation in NAV is updated.

  • Allocate multiple resources to the same service item line on the same date. When the repair status changes on the service item line, the color or time marker of the planned task in Dime.Scheduler can update automatically.

  • With the time sheet integration active, the resource's time sheet is filled out automatically from the planning in Dime.Scheduler. Change the planning and the time sheet updates with it.

Configuring service orders

Configuring service orders in the Fast track wizard

  • Select "Enable Service Management" to turn on the FastTrack solution.

  • Two checkboxes control how tasks are created:

    • To create a single task in Dime.Scheduler for the service order, select "Send Service Header as Task".
    • To create a task for each service item line, select "Send Lines with Service Header".
  • A planned task in Dime.Scheduler defaults to 1 hour when you drag and drop a task from open tasks to a resource on the planning board. To use a different value, enter it in the "Default Duration Service Line" field.

  • "Default Category" sets which NAV field colors a planned task when you drag and drop it from open tasks to a resource on the planning board. Choose between service order type, repair status (from the service item line) and service zone. Leave it blank to use the default color (blue).

  • "Default Timemarker" sets which NAV field colors the time marker on a planned task when you drag and drop it from open tasks to a resource on the planning board. Choose between service order type, repair status (from the service item line) and service zone. Leave it blank to skip time markers altogether.

  • "Show Repair Status as" controls how the planned task(s) in Dime.Scheduler update when the repair status on the service item line in NAV changes. Choose to update the category or the time marker. Aligning this with the default category and default time marker settings is sensible but not required. For example, set service order type as the default category and then update the category when the repair status changes: the color shows the order type until the repair status changes, then reflects that status.

  • Select "Update Time Sheet from Planning Board" to create or update the resource's time sheet in NAV automatically whenever a task is allocated to a resource or a planned task is modified in Dime.Scheduler.

The FastTrack Wizard creates the configuration for the "Skill Filter" and "Service Zone Filter" automatically if they were enabled in the standard resource section. NAV then sends the skills a resource needs (based on the service item and the service zone of the service order) to Dime.Scheduler, where you can use the automatic filter option to pick the right resource for the task.
