Jobs

The Dime.Scheduler FastTrack solution for jobs lets you schedule NAV jobs from the planning board. It gives you:

• A choice between planning a job as a single task or planning each job task line as its own task. The default category can be set to the job posting group.

• Two-way updates: when you plan resources for jobs in Dime.Scheduler, the matching job planning lines in NAV are created or updated automatically.

• Person-responsible filtering. Create a filter group in Dime.Scheduler based on the person responsible for the job, and the data-driven security mechanism gives each user a personalized view that shows only the jobs they are responsible for. A manager who oversees several job managers sees all of their jobs.

• Time sheet integration. When this is active, the resource's time sheet is filled out automatically from the planning in Dime.Scheduler, and it updates again whenever you change the planning.

Configuring jobs

• To enable the FastTrack solution, select "Enable Jobs".

• Two checkboxes control how tasks are created:

  • To create a single task in Dime.Scheduler for the job, select "Send Job as Task".
  • To create a task for each job task line, select "Send Tasks with Job".

• A planned task in Dime.Scheduler defaults to 1 hour (when you drag and drop a task from open tasks to a resource on the planning board). To use a different value, enter it in "Default Duration Job Task".

• In "Default Category", choose which NAV field sets the color of a planned task when you drag and drop a task from open tasks to a resource on the planning board: select a job posting group, or leave it blank to use the default color (blue).

• Select "Create Person Responsible Filter" and enter the filter name that users see in Dime.Scheduler. The FastTrack Wizard sets up the "Person Responsible Filter" configuration for you, and NAV then sends the person responsible for each job to Dime.Scheduler.

• Select "Plan In Gantt Chart" to plan your jobs in the Gantt chart. The scheduling mode can be one of:

  • Normal
  • Fixed Duration
  • Effort Driven
  • Dynamic Assignment

• Select "Update Time Sheet from Planning Board" to create or update the resource's time sheet in NAV automatically whenever a task is allocated to a resource or a planned task is modified in Dime.Scheduler.
