Master data synchronization
This step keeps master data fresh automatically. Skip it for a quick trial; add it for any real deployment.
The FastTrack WizardFastTrack wizardThe setup wizard inside Business Central or NAV that connects it to Dime.Scheduler and switches on the modules to plan from. It writes the source app and creates the source types for each enabled module. moves master data into Dime.Scheduler once. From that moment onward, anything you change in Business Central - a new resourceResourceAn entity that can carry out work - a person, vehicle, tool, or room - that you schedule on the planning board., a renamed filter, a retired categoryCategoryA visual indicator (a color) applied to appointments to classify or label them. - is invisible to Dime.Scheduler until you tell it otherwise. For a real deployment, that drift adds up fast: planners see ghost resources, missing categories, and filters that no longer match what BC enforces.
The fix is a small codeunit, DS Scheduled Synch, that re-publishes the same master data the wizard did. You can run it on demand from the DS SetupDS SetupThe connector’s setup page in the back office (DS Setup in NAV, DS Connector Setup in Business Central). It holds the same settings as the FastTrack wizard, plus actions to send data manually. page, but the production answer is to add it to Business Central's job queueJob queueBusiness Central’s scheduler for background work. The connector relies on job queue entries to process the outbound queue and to synchronize master data without blocking users. so it runs on a cadence and you never have to think about it.
Each run synchronizes:
- Filters, categories, time markersTime markerA visual indicator on an appointment, separate from its category, used to flag a status or condition at a point in time., and pinsPinAn indicator that lives on a task rather than an appointment and colors its marker on the map, typically by skill, vehicle type or region. It has no equivalent on the planning board.
- Resources (if standard resources are enabled)
- Work and machine centersMachine centerA machine under a Business Central work center. Like work centers, machine centers become resources when production routing planning is enabled. (if enabled in production routing planning)
How often to run it is a judgment call - hourly is plenty for most setups, once a day is fine if your master data barely changes, and anything more frequent rarely earns its keep.
