What is an action URI
An action URI defines a link template that triggers an action or event in another application. In other words, an action URI is a template with placeholders which are replaced by the data of the record when the action is invoked.
The entity type will determine which placeholders will be populated in the link:
- Appointments: Source type, start date, end date and resource.
- Tasks: Source type, task no(s), job no(s)
The underlying "Source App" and "Source Type" fields of the jobs determine which URIs are shown.
How to invoke action URIs
An action URI can be invoked on the task and route sequence grids and the planning board via the context menu of the selected entity.
To launch an action URI on a task in the map, select the pin linked to the task you want to launch an action URI for and click on the anchor icon. A list will appear with all available action URI's to choose from. For tasks and pins on the map is it also possible to select multiple items and launch an action URI for all selected items. This will launch one action URI for all selected items. This allows you to configure your back office application to perform logic in a context where all items are available.
One caveat here is action URIs for multiple items are only available when the selected items share the same Source App and Source Type.
